Bluepha®, as our brand of Polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA), is a 100% bio-based, marine degradable biopolymer produced via a fermentation process instead of a petrochemical process.

Production Site
Now that our first commercial production site is up and running, continued expansion plans are in place.
Our production site is located in Yancheng city, which houses production facilities of polymer downstream processes, with an annual PHA capacity of 25,000 tones.
We will keep expanding our production capacity by using renewable feedstock and green energy to meet global demands of sustainable materials.
Our cutting-edge biotech capability enables us to use a wide range of feedstock including starch, plant oil, sugarcane, etc., to meet different customer needs.

An Alternative to Conventional Plastics
As our customers' forefront solution to conventional plastics, we aim to prioritise our customers' experience, helping them rapidly facilitate product research and development.
To do so, we developed comprehensive extrusion processing guides for downstream customers, which as of now, includes blown film and sheet & film extrusion guides.
Moreover, we are also in the process of developing various processing guides that we believe will help our customers efficiently adopt our Bluepha® PHA resins to expand their business and increase competitive advantage.

Clear market demand
Currently, a series of domestic and international restrictions are imposed on conventional plastics. The global markets have an apparent and urgent need to find alternative solutions to conventional plastics that do not have negative impact on the environment.
Accelerate production capacity frameworks and maintain sufficient supply
Bluepha is stepping up the pace of supplying PHA, a new biodegradable material that can replace traditional plastics. We have set up the first phase of our factory in Yancheng City, Jiangsu, with an annual capacity of 5,000 tonnes. In the next 5 years, Bluepha will continue to expand its PHA production capacity by 75,000 tonnes annually.

Bluepha™️ series products passed the European Union food contact material test and can be used for all types of food packaging materials in all regions of the European Union
Strategic cooperation with Helian Polymers of the Netherlands to provide end users with biomaterial solutions suitable for degradation in the marine environment
Built a super factory with an annual output of 25,000 tonnes Bluepha™️ in Binhai County Coastal Industrial Park
Completed the B3 round of financing (Yuansheng Capital, Mixed Reform Fund, Zhongping Capital, Huanghai Financial Holdings, and other shareholders)
Established a strategic partnership with Thailand Taihua Group to jointly develop the synergistic application of PHA and cassava-based materials
Secured series B2 of financing from major investors such as Tencent, Country Garden Ventures, and other shareholders

Co-Founder & President
Dr. Haoqian Zhang, co-founder and CEO of Bluepha Co., Ltd., graduated from Peking University with a bachelor's degree in Biology and a Ph.D. in Integrated Life Sciences (Physics). He has published more than 20 research papers in influential and prestigious academic journals and is several times grand prize winner and 1st runner-up in the International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition (iGEM).
Dr. Teng LI
Mingjiang WANG
General Manager of Operations
Mr. Wang has more than 30 years of practical experience in the biofermentation industry, handling projects worth billions of dollars. Mr. Wang is familiar with each module of Lean Manufacturing 5S, PDCA, TPM, etc. The factories under his management have improved significantly in both on-site management and product quality. He was certified as a JI and JM trainer by the Japan Industrial Training Association.
Dr. Teng Li, co-founder and president of Bluepha Co., Ltd., graduated from Tsinghua University with a bachelor’s degree in Life Science and Ph.D. in Biomaterial and Synthetic Biology. He was the captain of the Tsinghua University team that won the Gold Medal in iGEM. Dr. Li has been shortlisted for MIT Technology Review's 2018 "Innovators under 35 China", Fortune’s "40 under 40" List (2019), etc.
