What is PHA

In 1925, Maurice Lemoigne first isolated and identified PHA. PHA is a class of linear bio-polyester that can be synthesized by a variety of microorganisms in the natural environment through intracellular fermentation using various lipids or sugars as raw materials. This kind of substance in the cell mainly as energy storage substances in the form of cytoplasmic inclusions, similar to the role of human fat, when the external environment is rich in nutrients in the intracellular accumulation, when the external environment is not ideal, the microorganism can be broken down by enzymes PHA energy to supply their own vital activities.

Biodegradability

PHA is the only commercially available biopolymer, similar to other natural materials such as cellulose and starch, which is 100% biodegradable in different natural environments in a relatively short time.
